Asia Camera Museum: The place of cameras' evolution

Cameras have come a long way with the cameras using films to take 15 photos to the digital camera we know today. However, how much do we know the history and evolution of cameras?


Do we still remember the old days of using a film camera which can only snap 15 photos and have to wait for a few days for our photos to be develop in a photography shop? It is impossible to relive to older days but one can visit the Asia Camera Museum to walk down the memory lane and learn about the history of the camera.


Asia Camera Museum is a placed for both locals and tourist to visit and learn about the history of cameras from the olden days dated back to 1920s to the present time. There are many kinds of camera from various well-known brand such Canon, Nikon, Leica, and Hasselblad display in the museum


Asia Camera Museum Owner Kelvin Leong, a 32-year-old man decided to open a museum displaying the history and evolution of cameras from the past decades to prove the advancement of technology


"It is interesting to see how to the cameras when through many changes to become the digital camera we have today," said Leong

There are many types of film cameras found in Asia Camera Museum

It is an interesting concept however there is a price Leong needs to pay. He said majority of the cameras are hard to find in Malaysia to be shown in the museum and have to bought it online from overseas


"Most of the camera here in the museum are hard to find in Malaysia and I have no choice but to bought them online from overseas like America, United Kingdom, and Europe."


"I know buying the old camera from other countries is costly due to the high price of the cameras, shipping fee, and exchange rate of the currency but it is worth it," said Leong


Leong also disassembles a few SLR cameras and frame it to be display in the museum letting the visitors to have a look of every parts inside of a SLR camera.


"The cameras are disassembled by myself as I have interest of taking things apart and I also want to let the visitors to view the parts of a SLR camera," said Leong

The Canon F-1 SLR camera is one of the one of the disassembled cameras display in the museum
